1. Introduction

Made To Delight ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI photo transformation service. We help families add loved ones to photos, restore old pictures, fix group shots, create memorial tributes, and more. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website and services at madetodelight.com (the "Service").

By using Made To Delight, you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. The Short Version

  • We do not store your image files. Photos are processed by a third-party AI provider and hosted temporarily on their infrastructure. Files are available for a limited time — download your results as soon as they're ready.
  • We don't sell your data. Ever.
  • We collect the minimum we need to provide the Service and process your orders.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
  • Photos you upload are processed by a third-party AI service and are subject to their data handling practices.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive:

  • Your name and email address
  • Profile photo (if provided by Google)

We use Better Auth to manage authentication. We do not store your Google password.

3.2 Photos You Upload

When you use our transformation service, you upload photos. Here is exactly what happens:

  • Your photo is sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. We do not save the image file on our own servers.
  • The transformed result is hosted temporarily on the AI provider's infrastructure. Files are available for a limited time and may be removed without notice.
  • We store only a URL reference to the result in our database — not the image file itself. We can remove this reference on request.
  • Download your results as soon as they're ready. Once a file is removed from the provider's servers, it cannot be recovered.

We do not use your photos for AI training, marketing, or any purpose other than fulfilling your specific transformation request.

3.3 Order and Payment Information

When you purchase prints or digital downloads, we collect order details (what you ordered, shipping address for physical products). All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number.

3.4 Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage data through PostHog, including:

  • Pages visited and features used
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • General geographic region
  • Events like "transformation selected" or "checkout initiated" (no photo content is included in these events)

3.5 Meta Pixel Data

In production, we may use the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API for advertising measurement. This tracks events like page views and purchases. We use event deduplication to prevent double-counting. You can opt out through your browser's privacy settings or ad-blocker.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process your photo transformations and deliver results to your account
  • Fulfill orders (digital downloads and physical prints via Printful)
  • Authenticate your identity so only you can access your photos and orders
  • Improve the Service based on aggregate, anonymized usage data
  • Prevent fraud and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. How We Handle Your Photos with AI

5.1 Image Processing

Your uploaded photos are sent to fal.ai for AI image generation and editing. The transformed result is returned to us and made available in your account.

5.2 No Training on Your Photos

We do not use your photos to train AI models. Your images are processed solely to fulfill your transformation request.

5.3 AI Limitations

AI-generated images may contain inaccuracies, artifacts, or unexpected results. The output is provided as-is.

7. Data Storage and Security

7.1 Where Your Data Lives

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render. By using Made To Delight, you consent to your data being processed in the United States.

7.2 How We Protect It

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
  • Authentication is handled securely through Better Auth
  • Download links are authenticated and expire after a set period
  • URL validation includes DNS checks to mitigate SSRF attacks
  • HTTPS is required in production

No system is 100% secure. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7.3 Data Retention

  • Uploaded and transformed photos: We do not store image files on our servers. Images are processed and hosted temporarily by our third-party AI provider and are available for a limited time. We store only a URL reference in our database, which we can remove on request. Once a file is removed from the provider's infrastructure, it cannot be recovered.
  • Account data: Kept as long as your account is active.
  • Order records: Retained as required for tax, legal, and dispute resolution purposes.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated and does not contain photos or personally identifiable content.

8. Your Privacy Rights

8.1 For Everyone

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Request removal of your image references from our database by contacting us
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Ask questions about how your data is handled by emailing us

8.2 For EU/UK Users (GDPR)

If you're in the European Economic Area or UK, you have additional rights:

  • Access and get copies of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

We process your data based on:

  • Contract: To provide the photo transformation service you requested
  • Legitimate interests: To improve the Service and ensure security
  • Consent: For optional features like advertising tracking

8.3 For California Users (CCPA)

California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how it's used
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell your data)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

9. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (session management). PostHog and Meta Pixel may set additional cookies for analytics and advertising measurement. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Children's Privacy

Made To Delight is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect information from children. Photos of children may appear in family photos uploaded by adult users — the uploading adult is responsible for having the right to use those images. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us immediately.

11. Legal Disclosures

We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a court order or subpoena. We may also share information if we believe it's necessary to prevent harm or protect our legal rights.

12. Business Transfers

If Made To Delight is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

13. International Data Transfers

Your data is processed in the United States. By using Made To Delight, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this policy.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
