The 1960s Photo William Colorized
William had a black-and-white military portrait of Father from the 1960s. Here's what it looks like in color.
William from Richmond, VA had a black-and-white photo of Father in uniform. It was taken in the 1960s. She wondered what it would look like in color.
"My father served in the Navy in the 1960s. I have his service portrait but it's black and white." she says. "In grayscale, he looked formal. I wondered what the uniform colors really looked like."
The Original Photo
The portrait showed Father in military dress. The photo was clear but everything was in shades of gray. The uniform, the background, the face—all without color.

“Seeing my father's military portrait in color made it feel less like history and more like a person.”
— William, Richmond, VA

"I wasn't sure what to expect. I hoped it would look natural."
The Colorized Version
